Lovely central hotel with great facilities and fabulous staff. A lovely central hotel within easy walking distance of gardens, restaurants, bars and the seafront promenade. Rooms are comfortable, well-equipped with modern shower rooms, plenty of hot water, fresh towels, and complimentary toiletries. Nicely decorated breakfast room. Good, plentiful breakfast with a selection of fruit salad, natural yoghurt, meats and cheese, scrambled eggs, beans, and bacon. Together with rolls, bread, mini Danish pastries and croissants. Fruit juice and iced water from a machine. Tea and coffee also provided. Had a great time and would stay in this hotel again for its location and fab staff.

Warm welcome to Funchal. It can be daunting arriving in a new place alone and late at night, but I received such a warm welcome from the Hotel Madeira team, starting with my driver who picked me up from the airport and then the reception staff member who met me at the door on arrival to the hotel. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was great and the hotel has great proximity to the centre of Funchal. Be sure to check out the views from the pool; beautiful!

4 nights stay by adventurous couple. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Madeira in Funchal! The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the town with easy access to restaurants, parks, the port, and so many local attractions. All of the experiences and tours we booked included pick-up and drop-off directly from the hotel, which made everything so convenient and stress-free. The hotel is budget-friendly without compromising on comfort or quality. The food was delicious with plenty of options, and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Even after we checked out, they kindly stored our luggage and allowed us to use the hotel facilities until our flight, which we really appreciated. One of the highlights was the rooftop swimming pool—it gave us complete beach vibes, and the rooftop bar made it even better for relaxing. We had such a positive experience and would definitely choose Hotel Madeira again for our next trip to Madeira!

We had a wonderful stay at Madeira Gems Apartments. The apartment itself was beautiful and had everything we needed. The location was amazing. We were walking distance to so many great restaurants and activities. Best of all was Luis at the front desk. He was so friendly and helpful and made our stay that much better!

We stayed at Madeira Gems apartments in Jan 2024, so knew exactly what we would be getting. The location is excellent, as it is overlooking the little park in the centre of Funchal. The apartment is owned by the nearby hotel, which means that there is always someone on reception if you have any problems and you can also use their rooftop bar and swimming pool. The apartment itself is great, with large glass doors overlooking the park, a great kitchen and dining area and a bedroom and ensuite overlooking the tiny street at the rear of the building. There is also another separate toilet off the main lounge and a lift as well. We found the apartment to be well equipped with everything you could need to make a simple meal. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. We were also left a welcome pack of a small bottle of Madeira and some special cake. We loved everything about it and hope to return next year.

The location and the gorgeous view over the park from the large balcony. The managing hotel at the Madeira Gems hotel were very helpful and we could use their facilities, including a rooftop swimming pool. Luis Vieira on reception was particularly welcoming and always had a lovely smile.
